Master of Disguise -- RobberflyPosted by Earnest (Oklahoma, United States) on 20 March 2008 in Animal & Insect and Portfolio. A number of insects including moths, bees, and flies, mimic the coloration of the bumblebee. It's usually a great deterrent because no one wants to tangle with one of these behemoths of the bee world. This fly was hunting in purple loosestrife in the fall along with all sorts of nectar hunters and other predators. Unfortunately disguises don't always work for everyone... See tomorrow's post. I appreciate comments and visits but have discovered that replying sometimes takes great amounts of time so please forgive me if I don't answer your comments. I will very likely visit your page though....
