Coral honeysuckle, Trumpet honeysuckle, Woodbine

Posted by Earnest (Oklahoma, United States) on 27 April 2008 in Plants & Nature and Portfolio.

This vine is our native honeysuckle. It is evergreen in our area and can form huge drapes on fences that are covered with these orange-red blooms. It is much preferred to the Japanese Honeysuckle which is a very invasive "weed" in some areas. (I still love the fragrance though.) Rather than crop this photo I tried to show the vining properties here on one I found in a grove of small trees.
