Actually taken May 3rd this year -- these early ones seemed to be rather more colorful than usual.
Thanks for the comments and helpful hints. Most of my photos are from the woods and of nature. I hope you enjoy them.

Great shot, Earnest. I've noticed that the spiderworts are more of a blue around Houston, becoming more and more purple as you head north. I wonder if that's due solely to genetic variety or to climate and soil...
Either way, the details here are fantastic, and light and shadows superb.

@Eric Fry: They are purple to blue here too... I've not figured out why either. I know that there may be more than two species that are almost indistinguishable. It's really difficult not to get a good photo of a spiderwort.

From recollection, those colors are on opposite sides of the color-wheel. Whoever designed this, knew what He was doing.

Itis very beautiful ,luminous and it seems that the yellow is floating above the flower !
