Honestly, I thought this was one strange looking bug until I took the photo off the camera... My apologies to the tiger beetles!
WOW! Such a private moment you publish on web??? :)

@Ana Lúcia: Yes, I'm guilty and quite ashamed.... :)

Their colors are amazing, Earnest. Nice capture of a very private moment! :-)

Neat colorful shot Ernie, what are they doing.. :-x

Oh dear I think they are blushing getting caught in the act and all. At first I thought it was a colorful bug with too many legs until I took a closer look that is. Great capture.

Caught in the act! :-) PS: You are influencing my photography with your style! Have a look on my private website, click on "My Favorite Photos" at the top and open the album. The first few shots, with numbers instead of names, are from yesterday...

@vu@granby - Wolfgang: Wolfgang -- I'm anxious to see those photos but don't get anything but a blank page -- Perhaps I have a java problem. Thanks for the compliment and let me know if you believe I'm doing something wrong. -- UPDATE - OK, I figured this might be "my" problem -- the javascript works fine in the Microsoft browser (apparently Microsoft's custom java) -- Those photos are beautiful. I like the dripping spittlebug nest as well. You're already doing a better job than I am..... but glad to be an influence. :)
excellent. very nice capture. i guess if you had stopped down a bit, both pairs of eyes would have been in focus, bout you're forgiven seeing as you didn't realize there was a second set of eyes...
well done...

@paulski: Not to make excuses but these guys were really fast as well as discrete... I was pretty luck to get a couple of photos before they disappeared. Otherwise, the consumer grade autofocus camera I was using drives me nuts... Perhaps I'll soon acquire something over which I have more control.
Oh my...get a room LOL!!!!

Hahaha...Good capture, Earnest. I got a couple of shots like that earlier this year
Q: How do you know when it's springtime? A: When the photobloggers start posting bug porn.
Take care, my friend, I'm off to the beach for a few days.
22 Jun 2008 8:52am
@Eric Fry: Thanks Eric. Have fun at the beach....
interesting bug!! great shot...

I don't know what went wron on your first attempt, but As I'm one of the weird guys who try to stay clear of anything MicroSoft it must be something else than MicroJava... As browser I use Firefox and Safari. Thanks for the compliment, but I think that technically you are wayyyyy ahead of me. My camera is also a consumer product, a Canon Powershot S3 IS.

@vu@granby - Wolfgang: I knew it would be heresy to say that it could be microsoft's version of Java when I saw your made by MAC logo.. but sometimes the scripting provided by utility writers isn't up to snuff in using the Sun VM... It could possibly be my recent Firefox upgrade. (Anyway, like you I'm a begrudging user of the Microsoft products and still mourn the demise of the Amiga computer way back in the 90's) -- I just found the PC platform to be a bit more to my pocketbook's liking... I try not to turn on my old Amiga anymore because when I do the multitasking still blows this "fast" PC out of the water... and it makes me sad... :)
lol; invasion of privacy! Nice focus, good detail and colors. Even if it is an invasion of privacy...
