I think these very fine shots are second nature to you Earnest, beautiful colors. I heard today on BBC that butterflies in the UK have declined by 2/3rds and some speices may have disappeared completely. Global warming... or just a bad summer ?

@Observing: I would think that a part of the normal cycle of the earth, something that people tend to discount when talking of global warming... we have such a short scope of view.
Earnest, you've got a fabulous portfolio. I just spent some time looking around in it, and can't find a single "stinker" in the bunch. What beautiful countryside you seem to have access to. And so many butterflies... like today's shot -- such clarity.

@Viewfinder: Thanks very much for the encouragement... It is beautiful here but the weather is brutal, ranging from very hot dry heat to drenching rain, tornadoes, ice storms, etc... Still I love it here. Maybe the weather has a lot to do with the variable vegetation and fauna. I have to do a lot of walking to get these shots though all very near home. It's my greatest enjoyment. Take care.
What a beautifull butterfly! Wondering if the mint smells fresh and minty:)
Lovely macro!

@Monique: Yes this was a new plant to me (only because I'd never taken notice) and is plentiful here and apparently throughout North America. It is very minty (especially when you step on it or crush the leaves) and was once used by early settlers to rub into meat that wasn't quite fresh... and for other flavoring and tea. There are many plants growing near here that I want to "taste test" eventually but that requires caution and sure identification... A lot were used for tea and many for remedies for various ailments... It's fun.
