Fourpoint Evening Primrose

This is my best guess as to the common name of this plant. I found a spectacular field of them by the highway near my home.

Amazing detail in the yellow. What camera do you use? I have found that my old Nikon D70 isn't to good with yellows, and I lose the delicate details you are capturing here.

@Richard_Irwin: I am using a consumer-grade Sony and often have problems with brightly lit yellow flowers and indescribable problems with bright red ones that also have a lot of yellow blended in. The filtering seems very dependent on the lighting. Actually, the controls on the new camera are more automatic than my old one and this makes any photo a hit and miss proposition. Fortunately, digital records are much more affordable than photographic film. As I'm getting my complaints out, I should also mention that controlling the speed and focus are rather troubling as well and "fuzzy" things can be particularly troublesome. Some day maybe a digital SLR will fall out of the sky into my lap!

Seems things are still flowering over in your patch, those bright yellows are more suited to Spring.
