Indigo Bunting 2

It was difficult to bring out any detail in this photo.... but this bird is stunningly blue almost all over.

Lighting like that is rough. The blue shows, though. I'd love to see one of those little guys. Our eastern bluebirds take my breath away, every time.

Great catch. I have only seen two. Both times it was to dark for the shot to turn out. They are beautiful.

@Lee: They like to sing from the highest, usually dead limb, of a tree and this is a very bad angle from the ground. Now that I know the song, I find they are quite common.

Beautiful! I've not seen many blue birds in the Phoenix area. Actually, for such a colorful region, our birds are kind of drab.

@Candace: Strangely it does seem to be true of birds is arid regions. In the mountains I'll bet it's different.

@The Dark Dude: Pretty close but they stay up high... and I can't get a good lit photo from my vantage point.
