martie from US, United StatesFantastic! Love the profile - and once again the details you are able to capture are wonderful. What type of lens are you using? 8 Oct 2009 7:43am @martie: Nothing really fantastic, Martie... for this one I was using a Sigma 70-300 mm lens with a macro switch (it's touchy if you don't have enough light) that works OK for me. @Eric Fry: Thanks, Eric... I've had a banner year moving from wildflowers as you know to the next logical thing, the butterflies and insects that feed on them. Seems I'm about to exhaust most of the easily found flowers and insects.. not sure what might be next. I noticed on my recent jaunt to Houston that the wildflowers here were pretty much duplicated all the way from here to Pearland.. If you can find the time and a field full of blooming asters (they usually bloom in October) - then I highly recommend you take your camera out and have a look. Butterflies of all types are migrating in your direction... and yesterday I photographed a plethora of skippers, buckeyes, sulphurs, gulf and verigated fritillaries, monarchs, viceroys and some I haven't even identified! I was very happy about this but it could lead to butterfly boredom about my blog before the end of the year.. Thanks for the comment! Mirjam from Kiev, UkraineI agree, this is beautiful butterflies. Marion from Nanaimo, BC, CanadaAnother beauty Ernest. He is just gorgeous. I think I would find myself talking to them as I photographed them ....if only we had them in our area. I seldom see one and usualy it is when I don't have camera in hand. But you certainly make up for my lack of butterflies with your beautiful pictures. 8 Oct 2009 6:41pm @Marion: It seems that here they are everywhere this year! I am taking advantage too... Curly from South Shields, United KingdomI never grow tired of looking at your nature pictures, and this is no exception. 8 Oct 2009 6:49pm Dawn from Maryland, United StatesYour butterfly shots are beautiful Earnest!!
