The thistle does look a bit bristelly (?). One has to wonder if it is hard on the butterflies beautiful wings. The nectar must be sweet.

@P J W Miller: I appreciate your opinion. Actually I photographed this for the butterfly, not the beauty or the composition. I will reprocess it later to bring out details because I have not "collected" this skipper before and will try my best to identify the species.

This thistle is fantastic! A lovely shot, although I must agree wit PJW Miller, the thistle was perfect, even alone :)

A wonderful thistle Earnest, unfortunately one cannot expose for the light and colour in the flower without compromising the butterfly. For that reason perhaps PJW Miller is perfectly right.
