@Michael: The ground here is variable with sandstone outcrops in places and deep soil in others. Sometimes when an oak is trying to grow in a difficult spot it will develop branches like this and struggle to keep leaves in place. I was lucky this butterfly chose such a tree to light on.

As many others have said A feel of the orient...Wow an new favorite of mine Earnest...I love its simple elegance. Just wondering what it would be like without the leaf on the branch it is lighting upon, as it seems a little off color from everything else. a tiny bit distracting. but not a big deal...I do love this capture...I'd love it on my wall Earnest :)

@Mary: Hi, Mary -- I agree and thanks for the suggestion as the leaf can be removed. I haven't decided whether it is a good addition or not... The photo is just as I took it.
